- testimonialData.[1].testimonial - A tricky start to my 2025 season. My first race of the year kicked off at round 2 of the SA Touring Cars championship at Kyalami Grand Prix. I was battling to get a setup that works for my car and as result I was a bit off pace to what I normally do in the free practices. Qualifying did not go to plan as I suffered a mechanical failure with my front left wheel which forced me to retire the car. I only managed to get P7. Race 1, I had a superb start to go from P7 to P3 🥉 by turn 1. But unfortunately I suffered another mechanical failure with the rear left wheel resulting in a DNF. Race 2, I started form the back up to the grid. I kept my nose clean and missed out on all the chaos to finish in P4. Definitely a weekend were luck just wasn’t on my side. But I know the team and I will come back stronger for the next race. Thank you to @tgrsouthafrica @svracing.official for the relentless effort to sort out the car.

- testimonialData.[3].testimonial - A good night's rest and some stiffness after a fantastic @extreme_festival and almost 50 laps of the iconic Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in the @tgrsouthafrica GR Yaris #60. Having raced around the famous track isn't something that many people can say and it's a bucket list tick, something even some of the world's F1 drivers want to do. Lots of lessons learnt and thanks to some sage racing advice from @mark_jones_23 and @brendonthemotormo uth saw a massive 7 second improvement over the weekend. A ding dong battle with Charl Bosch ended up with some battle scars on both our cars and me going off when I swerved to avoid crashing into him in the S's and hit the rubber marbles, becoming a passenger with the wall spinning ever closer. Fortunately there wasn't contact but my race for a position was run. Racing can be a cruel mistress. Still, it's an incredible adrenaline high and privilege every time you exit the pit lane and don your race face. Next month we tackle the much vaunted Aldo Scribante Race Circuit in Gqeberha behind the wheel of our new quicker and more powerful auto GR Yarises. Bring it on.

A humongous thank you to @extreme_festival for putting on an epic show for the second round of the national series at the world famous @kyalamigrandprixcirc uit this weekend. The team @tgrsouthafrica worked tirelessly on our 20-car field. @leeroypoulter and the crew were flawless. Team boss @beyer_alan and real bosses Karabo and Khethiwe have a tough time managing a ragtag bunch of misfits, but really made this Kaapse laaitie feel special at what can only be described as THE racetrack in SA. The media colleagues really showed up at this round, especially team @autotradersa with 2024 GR Cup champion @seanurzz, 2023 runner-up @chadluckhoff and @tayeedz1 and @thecarphotographerz a who showed up to support @grdriver_17 . Well done again to @grcup11 for taking top honours in not just the media category, but drove to a spectacular overall win during race 1. Then to @colin_on_cars, @mark_jones_23, @brendonthemotormo uth, @riaan_555, @thamzn, @malusithegreat, @ntsakomthethwa and my @carmagazinesa colleague @alexshahini the quiet words of encourangement really helped. I’m exhausted after Kyalami, and despite having to concentrate hard for P2 and P2 during race 1 and race 2, I was still caught napping off the line by @phuti_mpyane and Theo Brits. One day I’ll come back and get that elusive 2:07 around the daddy. For the next round we’re at Aldo Scribante in the friendly @cityofgqeberha in the updated and more powerful paddle shift GR Yaris. A great weekend of racing from everyone in the #grcup making it a competitive grid with close split times for us all this weekend. Qualifying was exciting, we were all pushing to get that much faster on the track that we are familiar with. I qualified P5 for race one. Overall on the day I finished P5, not as strong as I had hoped for but I have definitely learnt a lot this weekend with trying different techniques to try and keep improving. Sometimes our days don’t always go according to plan and that’s also ok because I have still gained valuable experience & knowledge to take with me to our next race day & I am looking forward to our next round in Port Elizabeth in June! Thank you to @bucketlistracing_ and @tgrsouthafrica for an awesome day at the track as always. Qualifying I was only able to qualify P5 as I struggled to extract the performance from the tyres. But I knew I had better race pace. Race 1 I started from P5 and I was able to get up to P4 and I was in a 4 way battle for P2 and unfortunately the car ran into overheating issues due to an issue with the water pump. It caused me to lose pace and unfortunately I had to retire from the race. Race 2, I started from the back of the grid and on the 2nd restart I was able to get up to P4 where again I ran into overheating issues but I pushed on to finish in P4. One thing I’ve learned from this year is when it’s not your year, it’s not your year. The #TGRSA team relentlessly throughout the year to fix the issues on the car and it kept going wrong. One of the toughest racing seasons I’ve had in my career. But 2025 is a new year with a new championship. Thank you to @tgrsouthafrica for the hard work they put into the car. Next season will definitely be better.

I raced in the @tgrsouthafrica Starlet in the SupaCup class at @killarney_internation alraceway and saying that the learning curve was steep is an understatement. However the camaraderie and sportsmanship from the other drivers was very welcoming, and it was a great way to relieve some stress in the midst of us preparing for the 2025 @dakarrally 🏁
